PNP foils plan to smuggle money and gadgets to Janet Lim Napoles while she’s in detention
She looks like she can’t live without her gadgets for too long.
ABS-CBN News correspondent Maan Macapagal reports that the Philippine National Police (PNP) has received information about attempts "to hand over money and gadgets to businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles while she is detained in Fort Santo Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna."
The report explained that some persons have tried smuggling electronic gadgets and money to Napoles inside the detention facility even though she is barred from having them. The controversial businesswoman at the center of the P10 billion pork barrel scam "is not allowed to have a cellphone, laptop or television but is allowed to have an electric fan and a small refrigerator for her medicine." She is currently detained because of a serious illegal detention case filed against her by whistleblower Benhur Luy.
PNP Spokesman Senior Superintendent Reuben Sindac said the gadgets were confiscated by members of the Special Action Force (SAF) who guard the gates of the compound.
