Transit, the official PH entry to the Oscars, impresses Hollywood film critic

The critic says the film was "gracefully directed" and "inventively edited." reports that Transit, the official Philippine entry to the Oscar foreign language film competition, has received "a glowing review" from Hollywood trade bible Variety on Wednesday, October 2.

According to the report, Variety critic Richard Kuipers called the film "an impressive debut for helmer and co-scripter Hannah Espia" and described it as "gracefully directed" and "inventively edited." "Showing no signs of having been filmed in less than two weeks, the impressively mounted film boasts smooth lensing by Berhil Cruz and Lyle Nemenzo Sacris, and a lovely, subtle score by Mon Espia," Kuipers noted.

"Transit" was chosen two weeks ago by a special committee of the Film Academy of the Philippines as the country's bet for the Oscars' Best Foreign Language Film category, beating expected choices Thy Womb and On The Job.
