Suspected robbers die in a shootout after stealing bag containing just ₱40
They might not have died if they bothered to check what’s inside the bag.
The Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that two suspected robbers died in a shootout with the police on Friday, October 4 after running away with a woman's handbag that apparently contained only P40 in cash.
According to the report, the suspected robbers took away the bag from 30-year-old security guard Mary Joy Calimag as she was walking home on Lantayan St. in Quezon City at around 7:40 p.m. The police said the two men allegedly told Calimag to hand over the bag to them, and they sped off afterwards on a motorcycle.
A shootout ensued after the police were alerted to the robbers' presence within the vicinity. "The bag, when recovered near their bullet-riddled bodies, turned out to contain nothing more than the woman's IDs and cash amounting to P40, police said."
