LRT woes: Only 17 out of the total 28 trains are operational due to power system problem
If you think the LRT is more crowded than usual, this is the reason.
ABS-CBNNews.com reports that on Wednesday evening (October 9), "fire hit one of the cables of Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1." The report noted: "Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said one of the cables between the United Nations and Pedro Gil stations caught fire."
According to the report, the fire "affected one of the cables embedded in the tracks, erupted before midnight and was extinguished ten minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene." However, Cabrera revealed that "repair works ended only at 5 a.m. today, Thursday, October 10." As such, " LRT 1 operations began at 5:55 a.m., almost an hour late of the scheduled start of the trips."
Moreover, Cabreba "appealed to commuters to exercise patience as only 17 out of the total 28 trains are operational due to the power system problem."
