Bronze sculpture worth ₱500,000 stolen from Luneta

There are way too many thieves in the metro.

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that according to Fidel Sarmiento, president of the Art Association of the Philippines, "a bronze crown sculpture made by renowned artist Juan Sajid Imao was discovered missing inside the Rizal Park’s Kanlungan ng Sining." According to the report, "the theft occurred as the Kanlungan ng Sining was undergoing renovation works."

The report further revealed: "Sarmiento said one of the suspects is an employee of a private contractor tasked to do the renovation works inside the Kanlungan ng Sining. A plant was used to conceal the pedestal where the stolen sculpture was originally placed."

For the record, "Imao was also the sculptor of the 40-foot bronze statue of Lapu-Lapu in Luneta."
