Vigan City makes it to "New 7 Wonder Cities" shortlist

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that the city of Vigan in Ilocos Sur has been shortlisted as a finalist in the New7Wonders Cities campaign because it is seen as the "best preserved example of a planned Spanish colonial town in Asia."
According to the report,the "New 7 Wonder Cities" campaign recognizes places that "best represent the achievements and aspirations of our global urban civilization." A total of 27 other finalists, including Athens, Greece; Bangkok, Thailand and Barcelona, Spain will vie for the honor of being named as among the seven new "Wonder Cities" in the world. Vigan is the only Philippine city to be included in the list.
The new seven "Wonder Cities" will be determined after three elimination phases determined by public voting, which will end on December 7, 2014.
