Vatican law denying communion to divorcees and those who remarried after annulment applies in PH, says Archbishop Oscar Cruz
You learn something new everyday. (Don’t miss the sarcasm.)
Kristine Angeli Sabillo of Inquirer.net reports that on Wednesday, October 23, "canon law expert Archbishop Emeritus Oscar Cruz said the Vatican rule, prohibiting communion for those who remarried after divorce or annulment, also applies to Filipino Catholics."
The report noted: "The issue came out after it was reported that Vatican confirmed the ban following news it had blocked a German diocese from allowing re-married divorcees from receiving the Holy Communion."
The report quoted Cruz, who said, "The assumption of that rule is that the couple was married by the Church then they divorced. If they have divorced they may still take communion. But if they remarried they can't."
