156 congressmen from political families may derail passage of anti-political dynasty bill
Ben Rosario of Manila Bulletin reports that 156 out of 289 members of the House of Representatives are likely to reject the anti-political dynasty bill approved at the House committee level because it might affect their political careers, according to the proposal's advocates. Obviously, these are the lawmakers who belong to political families.
Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. earlier said that the consolidated bill "will be treated as an ordinary bill and not part of the chamber's legislative priorities" after it hurdled the Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms.
