Manny Pacquiao gives Bibles & ₱1,000 each to Yolanda victims in Guiuan, Samar
We hope, for his sake, that this is tax deductible, too.
Joey Gabieta of the Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao gave away Bibles and P1,000 cash to each of the 436 typhoon victims who were temporarily staying inside a school compound in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
The report noted that Pacquiao distributed relief goods, cash and copies of the Bible to the evacuees from 11 p.m. Saturday (November 31) to 3 a.m. on Sunday (December 1). He urged each of the evacuees to read the Bible and never stop persevering, reminding them that he was also once a struggling boxer who overcame poverty later in life.
In solidarity with the typhoon victims, Pacquiao slept inside a tent for a night and joined residents in a communal lunch known locally as "boodle fight."
