Sen. Chiz Escudero says senators are free to play computer games inside Senate Hall
We can only hope this doesn’t distract them from their duties.
Maila Ager of Inquirer.net reports that according to Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero, senators can continue playing computer games while a session is ongoing inside the Senate Hall since there is no law barring them from doing so.
According to the report, Escudero said in an interview with reporters on Thursday (December 5) that while "using unparliamentary language inside the halls of Congress is clearly prohibited by the rules," playing computer games or using tablet computers is not.
The senator issued the comment a day after his colleague, former Senate President juan Ponce Enrile, was caught by television cameras playing "Bejeweled" on his tablet while Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago was giving a privilege speech containing several snide remarks directed at him.
