P-Noy announces ₱10,000 bonus for DOLE employees, but defers giving same for "underperforming" gov't agencies
Looks like only some government employees are going to have a merry Christmas.
Dexter San Pedro of InterAksyon.com reports that President Benigno Aquino III is still mulling on giving Christmas bonuses to employees in some government agencies-which he perceived to have performed poorly-despite announcing that a P10,000 Christmas bonus will be given to workers at the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
According to the report, the President said at a speech during DOLE's 80th anniversary on Monday (December 9) that he is "having a hard time using [his] fountain pen" to sign the proposed bonus for some government agencies since their list of accomplishments have been "a bit thin." In contrast, Aquino said DOLE employees deserved their five-figure Christmas bonus because they have shown "excellent service."
The president added that he is considering a review of of the system of giving bonuses since he originally thought of granting Labor personnel a P20,000 performance bonus this month but had to settle for half of the amount because of the existing rules.
