Pacquiao’s camp says he’s not a US green card holder
We bet this issue made them see red.
ABS-CBN News’ RG Cruz reports that the camp of boxing icon and Sarangani congressman Manny Pacquiao has denied the accusation that he is a permanent resident alien or green card holder in the United States.
The report quoted Pacquiao's lawyer, Tranquil Salvador, as saying that the boxer could not have run for public office if it was true that he holds a green card. He issued the statement on Monday (December 9) to dismiss rumors alleging that Pacquiao "may be hesitant to show his US tax records because he is a green card holder."
The American visa Pacquiao holds, according to UNA Secretary-General Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco, is just a P1 visa that allows him to work and generate income in the US. Tiangco said this information came from the boxer's business manager, Michael Koncz. According to the US embassy, "P visas are for athletes and entertainers who are going to the US temporarily to compete or perform, either individually or as a group."
