Manny Pacquiao denies owing IRS more than $18 million in taxes
But TMZ claims they got hold of documents saying otherwise.
Aquiles Zonio of the Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that boxing icon Manny Pacquiao has insisted that there's no truth to the report by entertainment website TMZ that he owes the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) more than $18 million in taxes.
According to the report, Pacquiao said "there's no way he could have missed paying taxes on his US earnings" since his promoter, Top Rank Promotions, automatically deducts taxes from his earnings before crediting them to his account. He said TMZ's report and the allegation that he's a green card holder in the US are "part of a demolition job" against him.
TMZ reported on Wednesday (December 11) that the eight-division boxing champion owes the IRS a total of $18.3 million in back taxes for the last five years. The website claims it has documents to support the report, but these were not published.
