Mike Arroyo slams PNP for not letting him stay overnight in hospital suite with former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
His lawyer calls the policy "most un-Christian and most unkind."
Lira Dalangin-Fernandez of InterAksyon.com reports that the lawyer of Jose Miguel "Mike" Arroyo has criticized the Philippine National Police's (PNP) policy banning the former First Gentleman from staying overnight at the hospital suite where his wife, former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, is detained.
The report noted that Arroyo's lawyer, Ferdinand Topacio called the PNP directive "most un-Christian and most unkind, especially so coming during the holidays when ties of family and friendship become more pronounced in keeping with the season." The former First Gentleman's lawyer issued the statement "following recent reports said police personnel detailed to guard the former president no longer allow her husband to spend the night with her at the hospital and have also reduced the time allowed for here to go out of her room for some sun."
Mrs. Arroyo has been detained since 2011 at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City for plunder charges.
