Central Bank releases new ₱10 coin to commemorate Andres Bonifacio’s 150th birth anniversary

Julito Rada of Manila Standard Today reports: "The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said Tuesday it will circulate 10-peso Andres Bonifacio commemorative coins starting today, Wednesday, December 18 to celebrate the patriot's 150th birth anniversary."

 

The report noted: "The portrait of Bonifacio is etched on the obverse of the coin along with the markings ’150 years,’ ’Republika ng Pilipinas,’ and ’2013.’ The reverse side features the BSP seal, the signature of the hero, the Bonifacio monument and the markings ’150 years,’ ’1863-2013,’ and ’Dangal at Kabayanihan.’"

 

The BSP will produce 10 million pieces of the Bonifacio commemorative coin which has the same size [26.5-mm in diameter] and weight [8.70 grams] as the 10-peso coin currently in circulation.
