Dasmariñas Village security guards who clashed with Mayor Junjun Binay get gifts, commendations from residents
In this case, they should get "hazard pay," too.
Jojo Malig of ABS-CBNNews.com reports that residents of the posh Dasmariñas Village have given gifts and commendations to the four security guards who refused to allow Makati Mayor Junjun Binay’s convoy to pass through a restricted gate last month.
The report quoted the Dasmariñas Village Association (DVA), as saying in a letter sent to residents on Monday (December 23), that the guards continue to do their job of ensuring the security of the residents. "[They] have been given both commendations and gifts from residents, who have shown their support for the guards’ performance in upholding and implementing Dasmariñas Village policies," said the letter signed by DVA president Jay Pantangco.
Pantangco added that DVA stands by the decision of its guards not to allow Binay to pass through a secured gate on November 30, saying they merely "upheld DVA’s existing policy and procedure." The incident, which was caught on closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, led to Binay calling the Makati police. The guards said they were later "invited" to the police station for verification purposes.
