QC tagged as "most dangerous city," has highest number of firecracker injuries
This isn’t something the city would be proud of.
Jet Villa of InterAksyon.com reports that the Department of Health (DOH) has declared Quezon City as the "most dangerous city" in Metro Manila where the highest number of firecracker-related injuries has been recorded.
The report noted that based on DOH data from 2010 to 2012, other cities where the most firecracker-related injuries happened were Pasig, Mandaluyong, Valenzuela, Marikina, Manila and Las Piñas. The barangays in Quezon City where the highest number of firecracker-related injuries have been posted are Batasan Hills, Commonwealth, Holy spirit, Payatas, Sto. Domingo and Krus na Ligas. According to the health department, the incidence of injuries recorded for this year thus far was 10 percent higher than the five-year average posted from 2008-2012.
As of 6 a.m. of December 29, the DOH has recorded a total of 198 firecracker-related injuries, with 119 of them because of the banned firecracker piccolo.
