Kimmy Dora 3 producers up in arms over lack of awards in the MMFF
There will always be winners and losers in any competition.
Miguel Dumaual of ABS-CBNNews.com reports that the producers of "Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel," which include actor Piolo Pascual, "are not happy with the results of the recent 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) awards night" because the movie did not win any award in the main competition.
The report noted that Pascual and his co-producers Ericson Raymundo, Joyce Bernal and Shayne Sarte, were saddened that the film "did not get the right recognition" from the MMFF jury. "It was very unfortunate that ’Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel’ and its lead actress, Eugene Domingo, did not get the right recognition due them. Its director, Chris Martinez, was not even nominated based on the merits of the film," the producers' statement read.
Domingo, who was named Female Star of the Night during the awards ceremony, "joked in her acceptance speech that the award was a consolation prize for not winning Best Actress." In terms of box office receipts, the third installment in the "Kimmy Dora" franchise has consistently ranked fourth behind "My Little Bossings," "Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy" and "Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay."
