P-Noy declares January 20 as National Day of Prayer and Solidarity in recognition of "Divine Providence's" role in helping Filipinos
We wonder if this was meant to coincide with the 13th anniversary of the Edsa 2.
Dexter San Pedro of InterAksyon.com reports that January 20 has been declared by President Benigno Aquino III as the National Day of Prayer and Solidarity, with the theme "One Nation in Prayer."
According to the report, the event was announced in a radio interview on Sunday (January 12) by Presidential Communications Operations Office head Herminio Coloma."(It) is going to be held in accordance with the Filipino people's recognition of the guidance of Divine Providence in our forward movement towards a more progressive future," Coloma said.
During the vin d’honneur toast held last week, Aquino told members of the diplomatic corps that "Divine Providence has played a great role in lifting up the Filipino spirit despite the tragedies that befell the country." Incidentally, the National Day of Prayer and fasting falls on the 13th anniversary of the Edsa 2 protest that led to the ouster of former President Joseph Estrada.
