Janet Lim Napoles celebrates 50th birthday in detention, sans any kind of party
She still has it better than other prisoners.
Maricar Cinco of the Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that Janet Lim Napoles, the alleged mastermind of the P10-billion pork barrel scam, celebrated her 50th birthday on Wednesday (January 15) in a "subdued" manner inside her detention facility at Fort Sto. Domingo in Laguna.
The report noted that the wealthy businesswoman, who was known for throwing lavish birthday parties for herself and her family before being tagged in the "pork" controversy, was served ordinary meals throughout the day. "She had ham and egg for breakfast, pork stew for lunch, and milkfish cooked in vinegar and ginger for dinner," said Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac, spokesperson of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Sindac added that Napoles did not request-nor receive-any kind of special treatment from members of the police who were guarding her. A day before her birthday, Napoles was visited by her husband, some relatives, a priest and three other persons.
