Nora Aunor on the possibility of being named National Artist: "Huwag naman at baka mapahiya tayo"

Her friend Vilma Santos thinks she deserves the honor.

Reyma Buan-Deveza of reports that in a recent interview with members of press for her upcoming indie film Padre de Familia, veteran actress Nora Aunor said she doesn’t believe she is qualified to be named as National Artist.


"Ay hindi po, ay hindi po. Sabi ko sa kanila huwag naman at baka mapahiya tayo. Para sa akin ay mas marami pang karapat-dapat na bigyan ng titulong National Artist (Oh, no, no. I told people who’ve been asking me about it that I may just get humiliated. Besides, I think there are those who deserve the title National Artist more),"  Aunor said.


The report noted: "Aunor said she is just happy that her friend and former showbiz rival, actress-politician Vilma Santos, believes that she deserves the honor to be called one the country’s National Artists."
