7107 International Music Festival organizers deny tapping one of Janet Lim Napoles’ kids as sponsor

Producer clarifies that they’re getting funds from corporate sponsors and ticket sales.

Allan Policarpio of the Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that the organizers of the upcoming 7107 International Music Festival have denied rumors swirling on social media networks that one of the children of alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles has helped finance the event as a sponsor.

The report quoted the festival's executive producer, Tina Herrera, as saying in a press conference on Tuesday (January 21) that the Woodstock-inspired festival was being funded by "multiple revenue sources." "As much as people would want to assume that, it's absolutely not true," she said.

Herrera, a veteran producer who also organizes Philippine Fashion Week, said funds for the event have been streaming in from ticket and concessionaire sales, and commitments from major corporate sponsors such as Smart Communications.

The 7107 International Music Festival will be held on February 22 and 23 at the Global Logistics Gateway City in Clark, Pampanga. The outdoor event "will be headlined by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, DJ and record producer Kaskade, hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar, and nine other foreign acts."
