Jeane Napoles denies owning unit at Ritz Carlton Residences in Los Angeles, says it’s her parents’ property
She’s now based in London.
GMA News Online reports that Jeane Napoles, the daughter of alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles, has claimed in the counter affidavit to a tax case she filed from London that the unit in the posh Ritz Carlton Residences in Los Angeles, California registered under her name is owned by her parents.
According to the report, the younger Napoles also denied in the document that she owned other pieces of real estate, including a farm lot in Pangasinan. Because the properties are reportedly owned by her parents, Jeane said there is no truth to the Bureau of Internal Revenue's (BIR) claim that she "willfully avoided paying taxes amounting to over P32 million."
The BIR filed a tax case against Napoles' daughter last year for her alleged failure to pay taxes. According to the bureau, "Jeane was able to acquire real estate and register them in her name in 2011 and 2012, but had no declared income during those years."
The younger Napoles, who was known for flaunting her lavish lifestyle on social media, filed her counter affidavit with the Philippine Embassy in London, which in turn submitted it to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
