Sen. Jinggoy Estrada says pork barrel scam witness Ruby Tuason just brought food to him at Senate, not pork kickbacks in bags
He also says she was just pressured to testify against him.
Ria De Fiesta of ABS-CBNnews.com reports that Sen. Jinggoy Estrada has confirmed that Ruby Tuason, the latest witness to surface with information on the pork barrel and Malampaya fund scams, occasionally went to his office before-- but only to bring merienda.
The report quoted Estrada as saying in an interview last Friday (February 7) that Tuason never delivered money to him in his office, contrary to her claim that she "personally delivered pork barrel kickbacks to Jinggoy in the Senate’s basement parking." The lawmaker said "Tita Ruby" only brought food like sandwiches from Milky Way, pancit or empanaditas whenever she met with him at the Senate.
"Ano sinasabi niyang pera? Tita Ruby naman, let’s go straight to the facts, sana po ’wag naman tayo magsinungaling. Don’t concoct stories. Sabihin naman natin yung totoo," Estrada said.
The senator noted that Tuason might have been forced to turn into a witness against him and the others accused in the pork barrel and Malampaya fund scams because of "extreme pressure." Tuason, who returned to Manila from the United States on February 7, said she came out of hiding to tell the authorities about her involvement in the two scams.
