Atty. Raymond Fortun admits netizens’ nasty remarks made him resign as Cedric Lee’s spokesman
That’s really something, coming from him.
InterAksyon.com reports that lawyer Raymond Fortun has admitted that he decided to resign as Cedric Lee's spokesperson in the legal battle he is facing against actor Vhong Navarro because "he was hurt by online criticism which claimed (among other things) that financial gain was his main motivation for representing the businessman."
According to the report, Fortun said in a television interview that he was hurt by netizens' personal attacks on him and the accusation that he agreed to speak for Lee because he has been paid with a large sum of money by his client. The lawyer said that while "people have a right to express their opinion," they already cross a line when they also destroy his family's name, "which he and his parents built for a long time."
On Sunday, Fortun announced through a letter read on the entertainment show "Buzz ng Bayan" that he is resigning as Lee's spokesperson "over a breach in their agreement that the businessman’s camp should nor give statements to the public without the consent of their counsels and/or spokesman." Lee is facing charges due to his alleged involvement in beating up Navarro in Taguig City last January.
