Online crowdfunding initiative for Michael Martinez’s 2018 Winter Olympics bid launched by volleyball star Gretchen Ho and blogger Noelle De Guz
Hopefully, more celebrities pitch in.
GMA News Online reports that supporters of Filipino figure skater Michael Christian Martinez-including triathlete and blogger Noelle de Guzman and UAAP volleyball player Gretchen Ho-have launched a crowdfunding initiative to help raise funds for his 2018 Olympics bid.
According to the report, De Guzman and Ho "started a crowdfunding wish list at Giftlauncher.com, where anyone from all over the world can support Martinez through Paypal, G-cash and online bank transfers, ATM banking, and even non-banking facilities through Dragonpay." All proceeds from the campaign will be turned over to Martinez's mother, Teresa, after the campaign period.
Martinez gained prominence for being the first figure skater from the Philippines and a Southeast Asian country to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Business mogul Manny Pangilinan earlier said he will give a $10,000 bonus to the 17-year-old athlete for his performance in the Olympics and will help support him throughout his training for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Anyone interested to donate may view the wishlist at www.giftlauncher.com/supportmichael.
