2.1 hectare lot affirmed as Aeta reservation in Boracay
Before we take care of tourists, we should take care of our own people.
The Philippine News Agencgy (via InterAksyon.com) reports that on Saturday, February 22, "the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) affirmed the 2.1-hectare property in Boracay as the lot donated for the Aetas." The report also added that "the affirmation has been made as Aetas continue to be harassed by prominent resort owners in the island."
The report noted: "The affirmation through the Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP) was made during the commemoration of the one year death anniversary of their fellow Aeta Dexter Condez."
Condez, who was the spokesman of the Boracay Ati Tribal Organization was shot to death by armed culprits on February 22, 2013 amid the presumed power struggle over the reservation lot.
