Paolo Romero of The Philippine Star reports that one of Manny Pacquiao's colleagues in the House of Representatives wants his next fight to be held in the Philippines instead of in the United States or other international venues.
According to the report, Parañaque City Rep. Gustavo Tambunting suggested on Tuesday (March 25) that the Philippines should host the planned 5th match between Pacquiao and Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez. He said holding Pacquiao's next fight in the Philippines "will not only boost the tourism industry, but will also encourage promotion and investment in the country."
To show he is serious about the proposal, the lawmaker recently filed House Resolution 949 directing the House committee on games and amusement "to determine the propriety of holding the Pacquiao fights in the Philippines."
