Sen. Grace Poe dismisses rumors that she’ll run for president in 2016
She still finds the idea "traumatic."
TJ Burgonio of the Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that Senator Grace Poe has recently declared she is not eyeing the presidency in 2016 even though she is being wooed by certain individuals to run for the highest post in the land.
The report quoted Poe as saying that she is not "considering anything higher at this point" since she only became a first-term senator barely a year ago. As a neophyte politician, Poe said she also does not have the money or the machinery for a presidential campaign.
The daughter of the late veteran actor Fernando Poe Jr. added that part of her apprehension about running as president was the "traumatic" experience her father had in 2004. The elder Poe ran against then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo but lost to her. He died of a stroke seven months later.
