Warning: EDSA will be Hell on Holy Week
There goes your plan to take a selfie with an empty EDSA as the setting.
"Joyride" is not a term you’d normally associate with EDSA.
In the past years, Metro Manila residents looked forward to Holy Week because it meant that EDSA would be empty. That will not be the case this year.
Tempo Online says that according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), concrete re-blocking and repair activities will be done in 94 portions along EDSA starting at 10 p.m. on Holy Tuesday (April 15) until Good Friday (April 18) for 47 areas on the northbound side. Then repairs for 47 areas on the southbound side will start from Good Friday from 5 a.m. until Monday after Easter Sunday, April 20.
This is simply one of the reasons why MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino has advised Metro Manila motorists who plan to join the Holy Week exodus as early as Holy Monday, April 14.
Well, there’s nothing holy about traffic.
