64-year-old man dies while waiting for Pacquiao-Bradley fight
He was supposed to retire this December.
Like many Pinoys, 64-year-old Charito Lorio-a resident of E.B. Magalona town in Negros Occidental-was looking forward to the Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley Jr. fight on Sunday, April 13. In fact, he went to jog right before he headed to the venue for the in-real-time viewing of the fight.
But, unlike many Pinoys who eventually celebrated Pacquiao’s victory, Lorio’s family ended up grieving that very same day.
ABS-CBN News Negros correspondent Mitch Lipa reports that "Lorio was watching the undercard match of the Pacquiao-Bradley fight inside the Wilkinson Gymnasium beside the town hall when those around him noticed that he has fallen from his chair."
Lorio was reportedly rushed to the y Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital. After an hour of trying to revive him in the emergency room, doctors declared Lorio dead.
Lorio, a municipal employee, was a widower with three children. Mayor David Albert Lacson will give financial support to his family.
Lorio was supposed to retire this December.
