Rated Killjoy? Government official allegedly has meltdown at golf course
This isn’t banner story material, which is just as well because the person involved has enough problems.
To challenge news hounds, we’ve decided to write this story "blind" style. That said, let’s call the main character, "Mr. Suave," after that Parokya ni Edgar song that he had probably been fond of some years ago.
Anyway, on April 6, Mr. Suave allegedly berated the staff of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club in Mandaluyong City because they had kept reminding him to pay the P5,100 green fee of a guest that he had brought in. (That’s a "per head" charge, by the way.)
To his credit, Mr. Suave was a long-time registered member of the exclusive golf club and the guest he was with was a professional golfer. Mr. Suave had brought in the latter to just observe him and his golfing buddies. As such, he was under the impression that the pro golfer didn’t have to pay the green fee. After all, he later reasoned, the man wasn’t going to play golf. However, the golf course staff reportedly asked Mr. Suave repeatedly about paying the green fee.
There came a point when Mr. Suave had enough. He got mad and allegedly told the golf course staff, "Tangina! Kailan pa nagkaroon ng ganyang rules (Since when did the club have these rules)?" That, allegedly, wasn’t the only thing he said, but you get an idea of what else he may have told the person concerned.
Mr. Suave ended up saying sorry afterwards. He explained that it had just been a "misunderstanding." Pundits, however, said that this incident doesn’t do anything for his presidential plans (if he still has them even after the "stormy experience" he went through).
For the record, the golf pro that Mr. Suave brought in said that Mr. Suave didn’t behave badly in any way. The golf course’s bosses said they’ll be conducting further inquiries about what the heck happened.
Can you guess who Mr. Suave is? Or do you need to go to market before you make your guess?
