Gretchen Barretto on sister Claudine: "How do I debate with one who is clearly hallucinating?"

Yet another chapter in this family’s painful saga.

In an interview on Buzz ng Bayan aired on Sunday, May 11, Claudine Barretto revealed that her latest feud with sisters Gretchen and Marjorie started in 2010. They had allegedly brought an ambulance to her house. They had accused her or being a mentally unstable drug addict, so they had come in the hopes of taking her to a facility that would help fix her problems. "They drew first blood," Claudine told Buzz ng Bayan host Boy Abunda.

Claudine said the ambulance incident had insulted her and her husband Raymart Santiago, as well as their two children, Sabina and Santino. reports that a statement from Marjorie aired in the same episode of Buzz ng Bayan, wherein she confirmed that she and Gretchen indeed had with them a doctor and an ambulance "from a very reputable hospital," supposedly at the request of their parents out of concern for Claudine.

Majorie had explained that this was because Claudine had run out of her "anti-anxiety medication."

In a statement given to ABS-CBN News on Monday, May 12, Gretchen dismissed Caludine’s claims, saying, "How do I debate with one who is clearly hallucinating and is under the influence of drugs and is suffering from severe mental illness? I am not one who would utter words such as ’baboy (pig),’ ’lechon (roasted pig),’ ’laos (has-been),’ and ’Kill yourself.’ I never spoke ill or cursed Sabina nor Santino."

Gretchen, who is currently in vacation in Thailand, added in her statement that Claudine’s erratic behavior is being encouraged by their mother and father, whom she portrays as "enablers." In fact, she says, "I have yet to hear Claudine and her mother and father speak the truth for once. Their current situation and lost relationships should speak volumes of the kind of character and attitude they possses."
