LOL over this: QC councilor wants nasty comedy bar hosts jailed and fined
He wants to penalize people who profit from penile punchlines.
Yes, dear friends, Quezon City 3rd District councilor Allan Benedict Reyes wants to nab comedy bar hosts whom he thinks go to far.
(But has someone told him that one only has to stay out of comedy bars to avoid the not-for-kids humor of its hosts?)
In an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Julie M. Aurelio, Reyes revealed that his office had received a complaint from a distraught individual who was poked fun at in a comedy bar (presumably somewhere in the City of Stars).
Sympathetic to the plight of the citizen whose name he didn’t provide, Reyes got to work on an ordinance that would penalize comedy bar hosts who dish out risqué spiels. (In other words, he wants to go after ALL comedy bar hosts within his jurisdiction.)
Reyes explained, "Sometimes the jokes can be really mean and obscene, and particularly directed at a person in the audience. The host would sometimes refer to a person's private parts, and that person ends up getting embarrassed instead of having fun."
The Inquirer report noted: "If the ordinance is approved, bar owners, operators, and managers who allow ’such performances’ will be penalized with imprisonment for two to five years, as well as fines ranging from P2,000 to P5,000."
Harsh, right? (This only makes us think that it was Reyes himself who got targeted at a comedy bar.)
