Senator Bong Revilla fights pork barrel scam allegations with a music video
He already brought out his toy truck in an earlier pork scam-themed speech.
In his privilege speech at the Senate on Monday, June 9, Senator Bong Revilla proved that being an actor helps in being a politician. The man sure put on some sort of show. We just can’t decide if it was a musical comedy or a musical drama. These days, we find it hard to figure out what kind of show is going on at the Senate.
Revilla backed his call for President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, to put a stop to the mudslinging by...er... singing. That is, he sang the song that was featured in the music video that was shown near the end of his speech.
There were talks that Revilla would resign after he (along with Senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Jinggoy Estrada) was formally charged with plunder by the Ombudsman last week. However, Revilla disappointed those who expected him to bow out. He didn’t talk about resignation during his speech. The most we got from him was the phrase, "pansamantalang paghihiwalay (temporary separation)."
That would imply that he’s expecting to disappear soon. (Does this mean he’s ready to go to jail?)
