It’s official: 8 MMFF 2014 flicks picked

Get ready for a flood of sequels. reports that out of the 13 films submitted for consideration, the eight official entries to the 40th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) this year are:

1. Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2 (Reality Entertainment, GMA Films and Agostodos Pictures)
Director: Erik Matti
Stars: Dingdong Dantes, Lovi Poe

2. Praybeyt Benjamin 2 (ABS-CBN Productions and VIVA Productions)
Director: Wenn Deramas
Stars: Vice Ganda

3. Feng Shui 2 (ABS-CBN Productions and VIVA Productions)
Director: Chito S. Rono
Stars: Kris Aquino, Coco Martin, Kim Chiu

4. My Big Bossing’s Adventures (Octoarts, MZET, APT Entertainment)
Directors: Joyce Bernal, Marlon Rivera, & Antonio Y. Reyes
Stars: Ryzza Mae Dizon, Vic Sotto

5. Bonifacio, Gusto Mo Ba Siya Makilala? (Philippians Productions)
Director: Lawrence Williams
Stars: Robin Padilla, Iza Calzado

6. Magnum Muslim .357 (Scenema Concept)
Director: Francis Jun Posadas
Stars: ER Ejercito, Denise Laurel

7. Shake, Rattle & Roll 15 (Regal Entertainment)
Directors: Jerrold Tarog, Dondon Santos, and Perci Intalan
Stars: Dennis Trillo, Carla Abellana

8. English Only Please (Quantum Films, Heaven’s Best Entertainment)
Director: Dan Villegas
Stars: Angeline Quinto, Derek Ramsay

In case any of the 8 official entries fail to beat the deadline, the executive committee will check if the ninth and tenth entries are ready to fill in their place. These are:

Kid Kulafu (starring Cesar Montano)

Kung Hanap Mo ay Ligaya sa Buhay (starring Boots Anson Roa and Ronnie Liang).

Meanwhile, the following entries didn’t make the MMFF cut:

Whistleblower (starring Nora Aunor and Cherry Pie Picache)

Above the Clouds (starring Pepe Smith and Ruru Madrid)

Bonggagster (starring BB Gandanghari)
