Bromance expected to grow stronger: Bong gets Jinggoy as his "neighbor" in detention
It’s happening today, folks.
ABS-CBNnews.com reports that "on Monday, June 23, the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division ordered the arrest of Senator Jinggoy Estrada on plunder and graft charges in connection with the P10 billion pork barrel fund scam."
The report noted that "Estrada is accused of pocketing P183 million in pork barrel scam kickbacks after allegedly channeling his priority development assistance funds to bogus NGOs of Janet Lim Napoles."
Like his co-accused, Senator Bong Revilla, Estrada voluntarily headed to Camp Crame. He will be detained at the newly renovated Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center.
But, unlike Revilla, Estrada’s surrender doesn’t come with bells, whistles, and music videos. He went quietly, as they say. Although, he did fetch his father, Manila Mayor Joseph "Erap" Estrada, from the house on Polk Street in San Juan City before he proceeded to Camp Crame.
Perhaps, it’s because Estrada is not a "detention virgin" anymore.
The report pointed out: "It is the second time that Estrada has been ordered arrested for the crime of plunder. The senator was jailed in 2001 after being charged with plunder under the administration of then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He was acquitted in 2007."
