Baguio City’s Star Café set to close on July 18
It’s been around for 74 years!
Citing local newspaper Baguio Midland Courier, ABS-CBNnews.com reports that "the 74-year-old Star Café, a Baguio City landmark which has seen decades of changes, will close on July 18."
Star Café is an iconic Chinese restaurant located along Session Road. It was opened in 1940 by Goo Chin. His descendants later ran the restaurant.
The report noted that "69-year-old Donna Rufino, widow of Star Café owner Joey Rufino, was quoted as saying that she can no longer keep the business running at her age."
Rufino explained that her children are all working abroad and all the siblings of her late husband are also not based in the Philippines. So, there’s nobody to help her manage the business.
She said, "I want to live my life now and do the things I want to do."
The restaurant’s employees have already been informed of the closure.
