DAP helped minimize effects of Typhoon Glenda, Iloilo Representative claims
How very Machiavellian
Amid the controversy surrounding the Disbursement Allocation Program (DAP), Iloilo Rep. Jerry Treñas went on record to say that DAP-funded projects for the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) helped the nation prepare for Typhoon Glenda.
According to a report by ABS-CBNNews.com, Treñas is standing by P-Noy’s position on DAP, going on further to say that, "We should thank the President that there was surplus in the budget, unlike his predecessor."
Treñas believes that Project NOAH, the acquisition of three new Doppler raders, and the new PAG-ASA complex are the reasons why the country was spared from greater damage when Glenda hit.
"If not for DAP and if not for PAGASA's restored credibility, a colossal typhoon like Typhoon Glenda could have been deadly for a lot of people. It's good that our people now believe in PAGASA's weather forecasts," Treñas said.
