DFA: Three Filipinos were on board MH17

A number of AIDS researchers were also aboard the ill-fated flight

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) are still coordinating with authorities but based on information from the Dutch and Malaysian representatives, they’ve confirmed that three Filipinos were on the Malaysia Airlines plane that was allegedly shot down by rebels in Eastern Ukraine.


According to the MH17 flight manifest, 283 passengers and 15 crew members were on board the flight heading to Kuala Lumpur. A separate report stated that scientists, researchers, and other professionals heading to Melbourne, Australia for an AIDS conference were among the many casualties.
