Congress seeks to abolish Supreme Court’s pork
It’s a no pork diet for the three branches of government
In a report published by The Philippine Star, Eastern Samar Represenative Ben Evardone was quoted saying, "[The Supreme Court] frown[s] upon what they describe as discretionary funds, like the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP). Their preaching should apply to their own discretionary fund."
Fifth District of Iloilo Representative Niel Tupas has already filed House Bill 4738 and his petition will be consolidated with that of Representative Rodolfo Fariñas of Ilocos Norte. Both lawmakers have accused the Supreme Court of illegally expanding the JDF.
Court employees are protesting the petition, as the JDF is a source of allowances for justices, judges, and other personnel of the judiciary.
