The New York Times dubs sisig the "Greatest Pork Dish on Earth"
Trust us...we know.
Most of us are already well-acquainted with the sizzling wonders of pork sisig...the smoky flavor of the meat, the slight kick from the onions and peppers, and the crunch of the chicharon bits sprinkled on top.
Thanks to Lumpia Shack Snackbar, a Filipino restaurant in West Village, a New York Times review is singing praises for our wondrous pulutan.
"This is sisig, the greatest pork hash-arguably greatest pork dish-on Earth," wrote columnist Ligaya Mishan. "Say the name with two flicks of the tongue, somewhere between a whisper and a hiss."
Last year, another New York Times review raved about a pair of restaurants that served Pinoy dishes in the Big Apple.
