Oh là là: Hunky PNP bomb expert hopes to win big as Mr. Philippines
He’s got brains, brawns, and everyone’s attention
The Internet has been abuzz about a bomb and explosives technician in the Philippine National Police's Aviation and Security Group (Avsegroup) unit who is competing for the Mr. Philippines title. He is also trained in basic aviation security and aircraft counter hijacking, among others.
Inquirer.net reported that the candidate, PO2 Mariano Flormata Jr., joined the competition thanks to his love of fitness. And plenty of people have taken notice.
"I really just want to promote a healthy lifestyle among my fellow policemen. This is all new to me," Flormata told reporters in Camp Crame on Tuesday.
In fact, this would be his first foray into the world of modeling and male pageant. He added, however, that his lack of experience did not faze him. The 5’11" hunk represents the PNP and Tondo, where he grew up. He maintained that his heart would always be in the PNP, as it was his childhood dream.
"My priority is to be a police officer. In joining the contest, I want to be a role model of physical fitness for my fellow lawmen. I want to encourage them to live healthier lifestyles," he said. "I really want this [job] more than anything, I like being here. I will not trade my job as a policeman for anything."
