Cancer-free Miriam eyes presidency
If she can beat cancer, she can beat anything...or anyone
After making what could arguably be the most nonchalant revelation of having a debilitating disease, Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago announced that she has "licked" cancer early Wednesday evening. The Senator said that, "the latest lab test shows that the cancer cells are waving a white flag."
Â
In a statement, reported by ABS-CBN News, the senator also casually declared her plans for 2016, "I’m not going to be coy. Society leaders have urged me to seek the presidency. I can rise to the occasion, although I was following the other sign posts on the road to recovery."
Â
Santiago’s announcement is hot on the heels of Father Joaquin Bernas’ appearance in ANC’s Beyond Politics, where he adviced P-Noy to rest, because there are other "good people" who can take his place. Bernas jokingly added, "Give Miriam naman a chance."
Â
The Senator acknowledge Father Bernas’ statement, saying she is willing to seek higher office if constitutionalists like him support her campaign.
