Helmet Ban Bill pushed in Congress

You read that right

Representative Celso Lobregat has filed House Bill No. 4438, which will prohibit people riding motorcycles to wear helmets. As reported in Failon Ngayon on Saturday (September 13), Lobregrat wants a nationwide policy that will "unmask" criminals in "riding-in-tandem" incidents. Obviously, this bill goes against Republic Act 10054 or The Helmet Law or simply, the sensible law requiring all riders to wear a helmet for the safety of their beautiful noggins.

Lobregat cited the increasing number of crimes involving motorcycles, wherein the victims or witnesses fail to identify suspects because a helmet is obscuring their view of the culprits. While the local government unit of Mandaluyong City has opposed the "tandem" part of this crime spree, Lobregat seeks to improve your chances of recognizing people who are speeding away from a crime scene. Or maybe he is trying to increase the risk of criminals cracking their heads on asphalt if, for example, they get into an accident while they’re trying to escape?
