Chito Miranda and Parokya ni Edgar land in hot water for "supporting" the Marcoses

Lest we forget: Martial Law wasn’t great.

Party-list Akbayan and the Student Council Alliance of the Philippines released separate statements "blasting" Parokya ni Edgar and Chito Miranda after a photo of the frontman circulated on Sunday (September 14). In a report published by ABS-CBN News on Tuesday (September 16), the youth groups expressed their concern, saying that "We are concerned that Mr. Miranda’s photo and the band’s participation in the Marcos Fiesta celebrating the late strongman’s birthday might be construed as a nod to the Marcos dictatorship."



The photo was posted in Imee Marcos’ Facebook page and at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena last September 13. The band performed as a part of the Marcos Fiesta 2014, a commemorative event for the late dictator’s 97th birthday. On Wednesday, Miranda posted this statement on Facebook:
