Weather Update: Researchers say global warming is "worse than we thought"
Freaky weather is freaky for scientific reasons
GMA News published a report from Agence France-Presse on Monday (October 6) that global warming is warmer than we thought.
A group of researchers from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory headed by Paul Durack studied numbers from 1970 to 2003 and combined measurements of sea surface heights with ocean temperature data. The report stated that Durack's group concluded that the world's oceans are around 24 to 58 percent warmer than what the initial calculations suggested.
"Our study is the first to attempt to quantify the magnitude of what this generally acknowledged underestimate is, using as much information as is available." Durack said.
