TIME Magazine released their list of the 25 most influential teens of 2014 on October 13 and dominating the list were strong female teen icons.
Recent Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai earns a well-deserved spot on the list for being a symbol of what women still struggle with-and why it is important to speak even when it is difficult to do so. Alongside her are Malia and Sasha Obama, Salma Kakar, the lead rider of the Afghan National Cycling Team, and three young "scientists" from Country Cork (Ciara Judge, Émer Hickey, and Sophie Healy-Thow) who discovered Diazotroph, a bacteria that speeds up the germination of cereal crops and increases their yield (it could play a crucial role in solving the global food crisis).
Joshua Wong, the face of the Hong Kong protest, also made it to the list.
Other familiar celebrities from the entertainment industry like Chloë Grace Moretz, Kiernan Shipka, Rico Rodriguez, Jaden Smith, Lorde, and Kylie and Kendall Jenner were also recognized.
