Pacquiao is now officially a basketball player

He didn’t score a point during his debut, but his team won.

On Sunday, legendary "fighting congressman" Manny Pacquiao made his Philippine Basketball Association debut as a starting shooting guard for Kia. According to a report by ABS-CBN News, the boxer was the oldest and shortest player in the match. Pacquiao had two turnovers, a foul. and exactly zero points scored. His presence, however, got people riled up. As his team fell behind, fans cried, "Give the ball to Manny!"


The final score was  80-66, in favor of Kia. When asked about his lukewarm debut, Pacquiao said, "It doesn’t matter. What is important is the team won."


He explained that he is currently more focused on his boxing match against Chris Algieri, set to happen in November. Pacquiao said that he won’t play ball again until after the match, but he assured fans that he will bringing a better game after he gets boxing out of the way.
