Jenny Laude’s fiancé says he can’t forgive her murderer
"Only God and Jenny can forgive him."
ABS-CBN News reported on Tuesday that Jenny Laude’s fiancé, Marc Sueselbeck, can’t imagine himself forgiving her murderer. Sueselbeck shared the last video he has of Laude and, in grief, said that he doesn’t understand how anyone could have harmed her. Laude was found lifeless inside the bathroom of a motel on October 11 in Olongapo City.
The man who checked in with Laude in a motel, Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton, was quoted saying that he did "something wrong" and is the prime suspect in the murder case. Several groups are paying close attention to the investigation, including Gabriela and Kapederasyon. Atty. Harry Roque has agreed to represent the Laude family.
"[I] just want him to tell me why he did this because [I’ve known] Jennifer [for] a long time and everyone who knows her can tell her attitude," Sueselbeck said, "He doesn’t have to explain why because there is no explanation but he has to stand [up for] what he did."
Sueselbeck also said that "there is no justice in a case like this" and further described what happened as "animalistic" and "monstrous." The result of the autopsy alarmed him, especially after learning about bite marks and other wounds on her body. It is not clear whether Laude engaged in rough play but Sueselbeck believes this is an indication of possible rape. He urged the Philippine government to hold those responsible accountable for their crimes.
"I hope that he will be punished by Philippine law...for me at the moment, I am not thinking of revenge, I am thinking of Jennifer’s honor and her family because that matters for me," he said.
